Full course description

This hybrid course (4 face-to-face sessions and interim online tasks and activities) is a job-embedded professional learning opportunity for teachers and school staff who want to learn more about how to correctly implement intervention strategies and techniques.  The course will focus on determining student need based on standardized test data and authentic assessment, developing tools appropriate for your school context, and planning and implementing interventions.  Teachers will review intervention databases, research about the MTSS process, and create intervention plans that meet CPS requirements.  They will learn how to develop appropriate student "growth through intervention" goals, as well as communication tools for the intervention team and parents/guardians.  This offering is aligned with the CPS Framework for Teaching Components 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, and 4d.  

Participants who complete this course will receive 1 CPS Lane Placement Credit and 15 ISBE Professional Development Hours. Participants are required to have access to Wi-Fi and a Wi-Fi enabled tablet or laptop. Additionally, course participants are required to complete practice interventions and acquire data from their school context in order to receive credit. Currently practicing teacher, clinician, or PSRP. Charter teachers welcome!
