Full course description

Overview: This two-part session, designed for teachers of ELs, focuses on how to make text accessible to English Learners (ELs). Participants will learn about five principles for succeeding with English Language Learners in the classroom and how to apply those principles to everyday lessons. In addition, teachers will explore strategies to apply before, during, and after reading that utilize accountable talk and encourage students to apply all four language domains - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - each day. This PD will provide time for participants to prepare a text-based lesson from start to finish. This professional development course aligns to the CPS Framework for Teaching components 1a,1d, 1e, 3b, 3c, 3d, and 4d.
