This course is designed for teachers of English Learners (ELs) who would like to enhance their practice when working with ELs or who do not hold an ESL endorsement. Throughout this four-class course, participants will learn about WIDA standards and how to apply them to their practice, the ACCESS test and how to use the results to benefit student learning as well as multiple strategies to engage ELs in the classroom. Participants who complete this hybrid (in person and online) course will receive 1 CPS Lane Placement Credit and 15 ISBE Professional Development Hours. In order to receive Lane Placement Credit and Professional Development Hours, participants must complete all in person and online requirements. This professional development course aligns to the CPS Framework for Teaching components 1a, 1b, 1d, 1e, 2a, 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, and 4d.
*Participants are encouraged to bring a tablet or laptop.
