Do you feel effective at establishing relationships and making connections with families of children with special needs in your K-12 classroom?  This course addresses the various issues surrounding families of children with disabilities and the transitions and challenges they encounter.  You will leave this course with new tools on how to be an effective collaborator with families in order to support the child in educational and family settings. Exciting activities, real-life scenarios, current event discussions, and selections of poetry/literature that will warm your heart!  Come join us as we make way for SMOOTH transitions between home and school for special needs students. This course is designed to assist both K-12 regular education and special education teachers.

Several days prior to the start of the course, participants receive an email with instructions for accessing the course. A week’s material is posted at the start of each week.  Participants are expected to read content and review various resources, write replies/answer questions, share experiences, and engage in discussions with the course facilitator and other participants.  None of the assignments are completed in "real-time;" you can work at the times that best suit your own schedule.
