 The Next Generation Science Standards bring new challenges to educators to build the foundation for successful integration of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.  The goal of this course is to provide simple methods to present complex content that meet the NGSS standards in fun and engaging ways to students in grades K-5.  Participants will be provided with a toolbox of videos, lessons, activities, vocabulary and related children’s literature for each standard.  No need to re-invent the wheel; we’ve done the planning for you! This professional development activity is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for Math, the Next Generation Science Standards and to the CPS Framework for Teaching Components:  1a, 1d.

Sign up for the course at the above link. Several days prior to the start of the course, participants receive an email with instructions for accessing the course. A week’s material is posted at the start of each week.  Participants are expected to read content and review various resources, write replies/answer questions, share experiences, and engage in discussions with the course facilitator and other participants.  None of the assignments are completed in "real-time;" you can work at the times that best suit your own schedule.
