2185 - Teaching Democracy: Cultivating Communities of Care & Liberatory Pedagogies in a Time of Rising Fascism
Oct 1, 2026 - Oct 29, 2026
15 credits
Full course description
What is the purpose of school? What is the role of public schools in a democracy? What is the role of the teacher in an authoritarian state? How can we not only bring about better outcomes for individual students but also foster a more just, equitable, vibrant, and sustainable society? In this course, through dialogue and open inquiry into the questions, we will explore how to create learning spaces that are microcosms of the free, democratic society that our students must one day create.
